West Marine Sailing Gloves 3/4 Finger

I just won a pair of West Marine Sailing Gloves 3/4 Finger. That’s right, I won it it at the Bonneville School of Sailing and Seamanship Winter Seminar Series the other night. I have to admit, I have a growing collection of sailing gloves. My wife thinks I have to many, but in my experience I have had several gloves in the past that wear out after just one season, making it hard to find a pair that I really love. Since I just won these last week, and seeing as it’s only February, I haven’t had a chance to actually try them out on the water yet. As for now I want to give some of the features that these gloves proclaim to have and some feedback from them online.

As with everything West Marine, these gloves are designed and tested by boaters, for boaters.

They feature:

  • Excellent grip, flexiblity and comfort
  • Pre-shaped V cut constrution fits your natural finger shape
  • Seamless wraparound DuraGrip reinforcement on fingers for improved abrasion resistance and grip
  • Stretch fabric on back for comfort

Here are my two favorite comments I found on the West Marine site:

Comments about Men’s 3/4 Finger Sailing Gloves:

“I bought these last year for my nephew who sails on a competitive college sailing club. He loves them. I would buy again but they haven’t worn out!”~John

“I’ve had mine for about a year now and they are still in great shape. One minor tear but hold together great. I have used mine for canoeing and yard work (mostly yard work). Great gloves”~Dave

When I slip them on, they feel like your standard sailing glove.  I do like the extra-textured grip they have on the palm and thumb. I wish it extended to the inside edge of my palm almost to my wrist, but that’s a personal preference. I can hardly wait to test these out, and fingers crossed I’ll be able to do that within a month and half! Look for an update on the gloves in the next few months.

If you’d like to try these gloves for yourself, they are $24.99 on WestMarine.com.
