This year for our Best Men’s Boat Shoes list we wanted to bring you some shoes you may not have ever thought about before, along with some old favorites we just can’t do without. Everything from Sperry’s, to Rockport’s, to Crocs, to MIXSNOW ??? Don’t worry, we’ve done all the hard work for you so all you have to do is pick which one(s) you like the best.
1.Croc Swiftwater Sandal
You might be thinking what we’re thinking…Crocs? For sailing? Yep. These shoes are just what we like when comes to race day on the Hobie. They are light weight, quick drying and low profile so you don’t have trip over bulky shoes while maneuvering back and forth on the tramp. We love having lots of options so it’s a good thing these come in several colors. That way we can all pick our favorite and we don’t get confused with which shoes belong to who. Traction on the sole is always in our top three boxes we tick for good water shoes and these Crocs have it. Fits true to traditional Croc sizing (which is notoriously wide) so make sure you take that into account when finding your size. These gems fall in the $35-$55 range which makes it a good buy in our book. Get them on Amazon. Get them on Crocs.com.
2. Rockport Rugged Shark Men’s Classic Boat Shoes
Classic, sophisticated, casual, yes these Rockport Boat shoes are still on our list because they just get the job done. These days Rockport’s current line is filled with mostly browns, greys and blues. Technically, these Rugged Shark Classic Boat shoes are not on their current line, but if you look hard enough, you can still find the shoes along with some of the brighter colors from a few years ago. Luckily, we found some on Amazon that are the real deal.
3. ALEADER Men’s Quick Drying Aqua Water Shoes
Are these shoes from the future? No, these are definitely in stores today and if you are a real “Get Wet” kind of person than this may be the shoe you have been looking for. These water shoes are super lightweight and as we have heard it said, “they softly wrap themselves to your foot”. Their drainage system and upper mesh are what really makes these shoes attractive. Imagine being completely dredged in wet ocean or lake water all day just to find these puppies dry again in just a few hours. Your cabin mates will thank you for the non-existent wet shoe smell as well.
4. MIXSNOW Poseidon Slip-On Loafers Water Shoes
We’re thinking, dress loafers, meet water shoes. We’re thinking these shoes are for those guys coming straight from the office to the boat and don’t want that hokey dress pant + water socks look. We’re thinking these shoes look completely different than anything we have ever seen before. We’re thinking the style might take a bit to warm up to, but there is a lot of value in these high quality shoes. Like all of the above shoes these too are lightweight, which is good because if need to go for a quick swim, these shoes won’t weigh you down. They tie together like normal shoe ties do, but their upper mesh keep them dry and smell-free. The best part about these shoes…is their rubber soles. They have the best traction and the black rubber doesn’t rub off or leave marks on boats or flooring. That’s a win! What do you think of these? Would you wear them sailing? To the office?
5. Sperry Top-Sider Men’s Gamefish 3-Eye Boat Shoe
Sperry has done it again. The gamefish is a offspring of their popular billfish shoe. Don’t get us wrong, we love the classic Authentic Original, which you can now customize it and even monogram the way you want HERE) but this shoe is the one that ticks every box for most of us sailors. It’s lightweight, has a Removable compression
molded EVA footbed for comfort, it disperses water underneath the shoe and has great traction on slippery surfaces. Plus, they kept the integrity of Sperry design within this shoe as you can see from afar, it looks like a classic boat shoe. The price tag is what holds a lot of us back on this shoe. We tend to classify it as just one of those purchases that is more or less an investment. The quality will hold up for year, so you just have to ask yourself, do I want to keep these for the next few years? Or do I want to replace a cheaper shoe each season? It’s your call, but at GWS, we’re giving this on a thumbs up.
Is your favorite boat shoe on this list? If not, we want to hear from you! Tell us what your favorite pair of boat shoes are and why you like them. Check out our favorite Men’s Boat Shoes from last year.
