I see photos of people sailing with no gear, no water, no supplies. There must be something in the hulls besides air or foam?
Most do. They have a screw cap on each hull, mainly for getting the water out in case they leak but you can store stuff in there but then if you capsize your gear may slide up the other end of the hull and it will be a pain to get em out.
There are generally netting pockets somewhere on the boat for storing light items like water or nav gear etc.

Okay, so it might be a crazy idea, but one of my step brothers knows how to sail (got his captain certification) and I know how to fly (although I’ll need to get my commercial certification). I was wondering what the probability of being able to start a sea and air tour company in Hawaii? Are there any special regulations and requirements? Are people who are not already living there and active in such a business locked out? Is the touring industry over saturated? Any useful information will be appreciated. And, yes, I’m ignoring the current economic situation. If anything happens it’ll probably take a year or more.
It is not overly hard.

I’m looking for gear (aka boots, gloves, shell, other) I can use for both offshore sailing in rough weather and snow sports. So a combo of both, waterproof and cold weather gear (rated is best) would be fantastic. Thanks! I’m a woman, ps, so I’d need smaller sizes.
Ice armor is made for people who ice fish. It is realy warm and durable.

I am stuck and have no idea how to dive in Nancy Drew: Ransom of the Seven Ships. I have the scuba gear, medal detector, shovel and the sail for the sailboat. I have tried everything! I’ve been to the crescent island, sailed around and clicked on the box in the top left corner of my screen that has my scuba gear with the number 100. But nothings happened, help me!!!!
I have circled all the islands but a new screen does not appear, what do I do and where do I go!?
Please try and give me step by step instructions, because none of this stuff is working! Like what I need to have, where I need to go and how I get there!!
Once you arrive in the appropriate location for diving, a new screen will appear. There should be a ladder or rope on the left hand side of the boat. Simply hover on that area until you recieve an arrow or another cursor indicating a ‘hotspot’ to click. Once you are in the water, the rope to return to the surface will be somewhat hard to spot, so take a few seconds to find it before you go any further.
Should you still have trouble, double check the ingame to-do list, exhaust all conversations with all characters (especially George), and check Nancy’s journal for further information on tasks you may have missed.
If all else fails, gameboomers.com has walkthroughs for all of the Nancy Drew games in extensive detail. Just be wary of spoilers, and find your current position in the game and you’ll be given specific instruction on how to move forward with the gameplay.

AGAIN im stuck. and this time not even the walkthrough helps. According to the walkthrough i need to go sailing and visit what i suppose is the shark cove(the semicircle of reef) but i cant seem to dive down. is there something im missing? i have a shovel, the gear, and the metal detector….the walkthrough just says "click on the ladder on the left side of the boat"…WAT LADDER???
please help my patheticness.
Make sure you have the diving gear and that your air tank is full. Also, check your task list to make sure she’s actually needing to dive right now, and that there aren’t any outstanding tasks she needs to complete first.
The reef (not called Shark Cove, but I cannot remember the real name) is a horseshoe shaped reef SE of the island–you should be able to sail right in. Once you’re in, your picture will change from 3rd person back to 1st person, and you’ll be sitting on the boat, the ladder is then to the left.
If it doesn’t switch from 3rd to 1st, then Nancy must have another task to complete; she’s very particular about that, apparently.
Honestly, I just finished the game today, and it wasn’t very good, I was horribly dissapointed. The next one looks good; I hope it’s better!

It seems that we have some common interests. My first experience commercial fishing was in SE AK on a salmon purse seiner out of Anacortes WN. I fished herring in Kashakes (sp?) at one point, but mainly fished from the Columbia River to Northern Mexico for salmon and albacore. San Francisco Bay provided a lucritive January fishery (roe herring) for a while, but that is all history now.
I sailed small boats up and down the coast for a few years before buying my commercial boat. Sailing is still one of my passions. My canoe, a Navaro Loon, has a custom sail rig which gives me a lot of pleasure, in a gentle sort of way. My white water days, gales at sea, cat four rapids, etc. are history. A gentle drift, like the Green River in Utah is more my speed now.
Where is SW AK?
Southwest Alaska is the area between the Western Gulf and the Bering Sea. I worked in the longline, troll, dive, pot, and tender fisheries, but no net fisheries. It’s big out here, but does not interest me much, except maybe for the set-netting. And it certainly is too much work for too little money anymore.
I’m not entirely comfortable with such a public communication forum – but I am impressed with your maritime experience. It sounds like you are going to have a wonderful adventure, at any speed — and your canoe seems like a very pleasant way to travel. Fair seas!

Iv just took this boat to sea for the first time, sealine 19 with above engine, whilst under 2000 revs its sweet as u nut but when you open it up it dosnt want to have it and it starts to die on itself. If you knock it out of gear it revs up lovely and sounds great! it sails at harbour speeds great, just wont let you open it up.The engine has been cherished as has the boat by the last owner, its got clean oil ,clean plugs you can eat your dinner off it! but for the past five years the boat has been restricted to running at 6mph on a river, and he never had it above 2000revs because of the speed limit. The fuel is new,it broke my heart filling it today! any ideas would be appreciated.
From what you describe it sounds like the second stage main jets are blocked.
I know this sounds far fetched but it wasn’t uncommon on these engines to solder up these main jets to restrict the engine for low speed use.
Or it may just be that old fuel has gummed up all the jets and it just needs a good carb. clean.
Give it a try, before you do anything expensive.

1999 C-420. All gear in good condition. Includes trapeze, spinnaker, new sails. Brand new trailer. Comes with hand dolly. Sails are new as of last year used only one summer. minor scratches on the hull but nothing that needs repairs.
It’s my first time purchasing a 420 so i don’t know what would be a reasonable price for this kind of boat. A brand new one is around 7 grand I think? any details about depreciation of sailboats, cost of a brand new vanguard 420 would help as well too. Thanks.
Sails will get you through another season or two at club level – but not at State or National level.
Depending on condition of total package – rig etc. it will be from a third to two thirds new price.

I am 15 years old, and I have grown to hate school.
When I was very young, I was under confident, and found myself sailing through school not caring whether I did bad or good.
When I was about 10, it clicked that I could do things. I went from strength to strength. My Year Six teacher raved about my abilities at writing.
After passing my 11+ and doing fantasticly for my first years at secondary, I started to relax more. I tried hard, but I knew I could do things. I often won prizes and the like, and last year, I was at my best.
Then I started GCSEs. I started to find things hard, and I got put in lower streams. I still try as hard, but I just can’t do things. Other students have started to get their minds into gear, and I find myself in the middle. Yes, it is a Grammar school, so the pupils are naturally more fast learners, and sometimes more able. But I feel like the air has been taken from me, and carpet pulled under my unsuspecting feet.
I hate all the subjects I have chosen, my grades are slipping. At one point, I was considering drama school, but I know I will never be pretty/good enough.
I don’t want to go to University anymore. I’ve never thought the education system was for me. I don’t even want to do A Levels. I don’t want to drown my life in work, because all I’ve known is that I hate it. My father is a leading scientist, with Phds, degrees from Oxford and Cambridge, the lot. He has written books, yet my mother left work when she had children. My father is constantly miserably. My mum doesn’t work, she is happier.
I have never seen much happiness or success associated with being first class academically. While my friends discuss degress in medicine, and going to Oxford University, I don’t want that.
I want to leave school next year. I just want to do something modest, get work out of my head. I will never be good enough. I want to learn without pressure.
Do you think I am doing the right thing?
I am predicted 12 A*s, but I do not see myself achieving that and being happy.
I don’t think this is what I was put on Earth to do.
I am not exceptional at anything.
you do whatever it is that makes you happy. nobody can ever tell you that they’re better than you. i know that i probably sound like your mom but its true. the pressure thing well just RELAX don’t listen to anybody who puts you down. and if its what it takes then become mr.mom and be happy. i believe in you!

I cannot remember exactly which Island he came from (Guernsey or Jersey I think) but he is apparently a local hero on on of the Islands. The story goes that he used to practise sailing small boats backwards a few hundred years ago. When his ship came under attack from the invading French, they shot out his mast. Apparently this unique situation allowed him to steer his boat backwards and get into a position to defeat the French boat. I would really like to discover who this man was, and would like to see anything that references the above event.
