I have just started windsurfing and my friend let my try his windsurfing gear and i can buy it if i like it. I have a Bic board and a Fanatic board and i have HOT sails. Is anything here of quality or is it just beginner stuff. When i get good can i keep something or will I have to get better gear??
Depends on what bic, fanatic and hot sails gear you have; how old, etc. However, if the Bic’s a long board and the Fanatic’s short (135 litres of less), this will keep you going for quite a while. Fanatic has always made good short boards. Even if you upgrade after a couple of years, this stuff will still work. I still have my original longboard from 15 years ago, and it was not new when I bought it. Of course it also depends on the price……

Kinda 2 questions i know, sorry.
We have a big Pico scene at TBYC in the Thames Estuary, kids and adults enjoy the boat, and we have held the National Championships for the last two years. As you know, the Pico is a great entry level boat, very strong and stable but also fun to sail. The Dart 16 hulls are built from the same material but from there on there is very little similarity. The Dart 16 is a middle of the range catamaran, significantly more challenging to sail than the Pico. They make a great start into Cat sailing, but I would recommend taking a course, or sailing as crew on one with an experienced helm.

In the time it took you to so neatly type out your "fill-in-the- blanks," you could have easily answered these on your own. All you have to do it look it up – it’s probably set out in exactly this form in the Chapter Summary of your textbook.

What kept the Spanish from settling the region?
Hmm…probably they wanted to make sure there would be some hot men in California.

i’m sailing from california to the philippines, what do i need to take??
so far, ive got 2 cases of rum, 6 bottles of water, some beef jerkey, and 2 pairs of underpants…
Forget the rum, beer is much better for drinking while at sea. More water content and calories to hold you over. A fish hook would be good- good trolling speed, but don’t forget to check it once in awhile. I actually drowned a fish once by pulling it along for a couple hours without checking the line. GPS is always good just to find out what time zone you should be in. Sea anchors are good for when you just want to go to bed and let the boat slowly drift.

I was wondering on this paticular boat what there will be today for five days at sea. I have taken Carvival cruises before but never with such a long time at sea. Also if you could list some good and bad thing about this ship from personal experience. Thanks for your input. We will be leaving on Sept 20
Have a nice trip. You will like it.

Did the US have to buy them, bribe them, blackmail them or what? I can’t imagine the US could just sail into Hawaii and/or Alaska and say "Hi! We are claiming your country"
How did it happen?
Alaska with cold hard cash
Hawaii They voted to become a state
In 1959 Hawaii’s plebiscite vote was held, and again, the United States government bent the rules. The plebiscite ballot only had the choice between statehood and remaining a territory. No option for independence appeared on the ballot as was required under the UN charter. Cheated out of their independence yet again, Hawaiians voted for the lesser of two evils and became the 50th state
I am looking to buy a hobie cat, but I’m not sure which to get. It seems that the 16 is cheapest, and most popular so easier for racing etc. But I am fairly confident of handling a spinnaker myself, although my crew i will most likely take is quite inexperienced. My experience is good, but with cats it is a bit limited. I am looking for a challenge, but it seems the tiger is a big step up…
Cant you get a hobie with a turbo on it, or something. That means its a hobie cat that has a asymmetric spinnaker. Im pretty sure they sail these in the ISAF Youth Worlds, but i don’t think they are the definition of a Hobie 16. 16s are by far the most popular, they are more popular than lasers i think, which makes them the biggest one design class in the world. They are pretty easy to sail and they go quick in a straight line. Tigers are more of a step up, and as far as i know are harder to sail than a 16.
If you have an inexperienced crew and have decided to turn to the dark side (aka, two hulls), go with a 16. Not only are they reasonably quick, you can get really cheap ones and if you decide you want to go to the worlds you can race against 200+ of the best Hobie sailors in the world. Plus, there are masters, grand masters divisions etc.
Good luck.
I’ve been looking online and would like to purchase a para-sailing reservation in Nassau, Bahamas but all I’m finding are people’s experiences of their para-sailing. I need to contact an actual place that offers para-sailing in Nassau preferably by e-mail or not so preferably by phone. Thanks!
Independent parasailing vendors can be found on most hotel beaches. There is no "tour reservation" needed. You can find them at Cable Beach between Wyhndam/Sheraton and Breezes, and on Cabbage Beach next to Atlantis/RUI and the public beach.
WHere ever you see jet ski vendors, you’ll find parasailing.
If you don’t see one. ask the jet ski guys. They are all buddies, and will call the vendor to pick you up at an available time.
Last year when a new chief editor took over at Sailing World he started a new program to try to generate some letter to the editor correspondenceby offering a "Letter of the month" contest. Last spring a letter that I wrote was picked for letter of the month and was given a special box for my letter in the issue and it said I would receive soma Sailing World swag. I’m still waiting for it.
You would get a better answer writing to the magazine.
